Bonang Matheba Credits V-Mash For Inspiring Her

Bonang Matheba and other TV personalities are shocked by the passing of former Jam Alley star Vinolia ‘V- Mash’ Mashego.

Matheba took to twitter to express her heartbreak after find out that Mashego has died, this morning.

“Not even close. She inspired my entire presenting style- the vernac, catchy phrases, huge personality…she was everything I wanted to be….this one cuts deeps,” wrote Matheba.

Among other tv personalities who posted tributes, Andile Ncudbe said: “ Not sure if it’s true about VMash but if it is, then The Greatest Of All Time has left the building…no one has gone close to her artistry and genius as a Host/presenter.”

The department of arts and culture released a statement and said it was saddened by the passing of Mzansi’s pioneer of variety television.

“We are deeply saddened to learn about the passing of a pioneer of South African Television, Vinolia Mashego, popularly known as V-Mash, who became a leader of popular culture in the 90’s and will forever be remembered for breathing life into the soul of our nation,” said the department.

Mashego died due to natural causes, in her home in Mamelodi East.
