Renowned international tennis coach, Nick Bollettieri, dies

The International Management Group announced that famous international tennis coach, Nick Bollettieri, died on Monday at the age of 91.

Bollettieri is known for developing tennis greats including the likes of Andre Agassi, the Williams sisters (Serena and Venus), Monica Seles and Maria Sharapova among others.

Despite not playing the sport professionally, the American born coach was known for his passion for tennis. He dropped out of law school to pursue his tennis coaching dream after serving in the US Army.

Bollettieri founded the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in 1978, which was eventually bought by IMG in 1987.

Recognised as a pioneer in the sport for decades, Bollettieri was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2014.

The tennis fraternity took to social media to pay their last respects to the legend of the game.
