Up to Andile to prove critics wrong

Andile Mpisane sitting on the bench and edging closer to making his PSL debut has split the Mzansi football fraternity. Whether we accept it or not, the kid’s life is what most of us can only dream about. His mom, eccentric businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize makes sure little Andile gets whatever he wants.

After all, that is exactly what each and every parent aspires to do for their offspring. The reality is that nice things in life cost money, something that is as scarce as a 2Pac CD in
Orania these days. We end up rebuking the mother; we end up calling the little man names whenever they get up to their tricks. If there was so much noise for sitting on the bench, imagine the day the boy makes his debut in the league. But, the thing with little Andile is that he does not seem to be good at anything, except spending his mom’s millions.

He does not have the patience or time to perfect his craft. When he gets bored, he jumps to another hobby – he’s a jack of all trades and a master of none.

By day, he would be a dancer or he’ll be spitting out Amapiano songs – by night he would be spinning the wheels of steel as a DJ. Sadly, he is not good at any of them, as seen on social media when he was whipping out his dance moves in front of a bored and sleepy young audience at some joint.

Those who have seen him play say the boy has some nice touches and would have been a good footballer if he took diski seriously. But he doesn’t. Many observers reckon he should not be playing in the PSL. Social media went abuzz and accused him and his club of undermining Royal AM coach Khabo Zondo. Some said the club must show respect to the league, the fans and other players.

Others argue that people are just jealous of his privileges. They defend him, saying Kaizer Motaung Jr and Bamuza Sono played for their fathers’ teams Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos. They may have not been as great as their fathers, not even close, but they took their careers seriously and showed determination to succeed.

We still have to see the same willingness from the young gun in Gucci. Andile must prove us wrong…
