Ethiopia’s Edndale Belachew crowned Two Oceans Marathon champion

Ethiopia’s Edndale Belachew was crowned Two Oceans Marathon champion in Cape Town at the weekend after he crossed the finish line in 3:09:05.

Nkosikhona Mhlakwana finished just three seconds behind Belachew, clocking 3:09:08. In the women’s race, South African Gerda Steyn walked away with the top prize after she finished the marathon in 3:29:42.

Dubbed the “world’s most beautiful marathon”, the Two Oceans Marathon takes place over a distance of 56km from Main Road on the corner of Dean Street in Newlands to the University of Cape Town’s rugby fields on the upper campus of Rondebosch.
