Johannesburg – Gospel singer and the former lead vocalist of the International Pentecostal Church Choir (IPCC) Emma Mkhwanazi passed away on Monday.
Mkhwanazi passed away at the age of 63 after struggling with Covid-19.
Mkhwanazi joined the choir in 1977 as one of the lead singers.
Legendary producer Thami Mdluli told SABC News that Mkhwanazi’s voice was distinctive and stood out, “I started working with Emma Mkhwanazi in the year 1992 and out of all the artists I have worked with, she never missed a beat. Emma’s voice was distinctive and stood out, you could hear her anywhere in front or at the back and she would shine through from all the voices within the group.”
