TV personality and businesswoman Basetsana Kumalo is beaming with excitement after bagging a prestigious award.
Kumalo, also former Miss South Africa, walked away with a Standard Bank Top Women Media Icon Award on Tuesday night.
The Standard Bank Top Women Awards recognise outstanding leadership for organisations that have shaped women’s roles within the public and private sectors
Taking to social media, Kumalo said she was still trying to process her win and reflected on being in the media industry for almost 30 years.
Tribute to the industry
“Being in the media for almost 30 years as a content producer, I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented individuals…
“I have seen their careers grow. Even today I get to work with great creatives, brilliant minds, and young dynamic stars.
“Those include the ones in front of the screens and behind the scenes, all are stars,” wrote Kumalo.
She thanked people in the media industry for allowing her to do what she loves most, which is to tell stories and create content that inspires, educates and entertains.
Actress Amanda Du Pont also walked away with the Media Personality of the Year.
She took to social media to gush about the award and how much she loves and supports other women.
All hail my fellow Queens
“I love women, support women. I believe the future of leadership and entrepreneurship lies in the delicate hands of women.
“Doors and opportunities are now open for us dream chasers.
“And some of the world’s best men are right behind us and supporting us taking up space in all sectors.
“Although some may resist change, I encourage you to push through barriers.
“To all Queens with a dream, there are no limits. The world is yours,” she wrote.
