Comedian Stopnonsons to appear in court on Thursday

Television presenter and comedian Tumi ‘Stopnonsons’ Matila is set to appear in court a day after Woman’s Day for allegedly pointing a firearm at his girlfriend Thando Ngemane.

He is currently held at the Honeydew police station where he will spend the night before his court appearance on two charges of pointing a firearm and assault.


He allegedly assaulted Ngemane and pointed a firearm at her. He was arrested on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo confirmed that the popular comedian has been arrested and is expected to appear at the Randburg magistrate’s court on Thursday.

“Police can confirm that a 31-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with assault and pointing of firearm He is expected to appear before the Randburg Magistrates court on Thursday, August 10,” Masondo said.

It is understood that Matila, who is also known by his stage name Jumaimai, allegedly pointed a firearm at Ngemane and three of her friends at a party.

In addition to being a well-sought comedian, Matila is also a presenter on SABC show Ikasi Lam which airs every Saturday night.
