The acclaimed cornerstone of entertainment David Kau’s Blacks Only comedy show makes a return to celebrate one more step towards its China anniversary.
Kau announced that the 19th anniversary of the show will take place at MonteCasino – The Teatro in Johannesburg on October 7.
The show will not continue as a series as in the past years, as Kau takes it back to the one-night show like in the beginning.
The venue’s capacity is also expected to make it more intimate compared with the previous shows.
The award-winning comedy star said the move was made with careful consideration and promises to take the comedy experience to a whole new level, imitating EFF leader Julius Malema as he rose from a crane at the party’s 10-year anniversary rally held at the FNB Stadium in July.
“The 19th annual Blacks Only comedy show is not only a celebration of comedy but also a celebration of diverse voices that make up South Africa’s landscape,” said Kau.
“I’m excited to move our show to MonteCasino and making sure it is a night where barriers are broken down through humour, and the shared experience of laughter brings people together in unity.”
Kau, disguised as the Hippo on the Masked Singer South Africa, said he is willing to preserve the culture of comedy by bringing prominent and upcoming comedians to share the stage together.
The groundbreaking show will feature Celeste Ntuli, Mojak Lehoko, Thapelo King Flat Mametja, and Alan Committee, among others.
“The show has become a cultural institution, providing a platform for comedians of all backgrounds to showcase their humour and connect with audiences,” he said.
“With a rich history spanning 19 years, Blacks Only comedy show continues to push the boundaries of laughter and entertainment.”
Kau will lead the hilarious event as the MC, ensuring laughter-filled extravaganza for the evening.
