Former Skeem Saam actress Pearl Nikolic, who was crowned the first runner-up at the Mrs South Africa beauty pageant, has stepped down from her duties.
Nikolic issued her resignation letter to the Mrs South Africa board this week, asking to formally relinquish her title.
In the letter, she states that she does not believe she will be able to commit to the time required of her to manage the responsibilities that come with the title.
“Through the collective charitable efforts of my fellow contestants and my own philanthropic work in recent months, I have come to realise that my sincere dedication lies in advancing my ministerial endeavors and contributing to community growth,” reads the letter
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the organisers, the contestants and everyone involved in making this journey an enriching and empowering experience for me.”
During the pageant, Nikolic was crowned winner of the Social Media Award which was chosen by sponsors in honour of her work representing them on social media.
She also won the Mrs Photogenic Award, chosen by the pageant’s official photographers.
Noeline Rajbally takes over
Following the actress’ resignation, Noeline Rajbally has now been crowned Mrs South Africa first princess.
The 47-year-old Rajbally from Durban in KwaZulu-Natal is an entrepreneur and personal empowerment and mindfulness coach.
The 29-year-old Theresa Maluleke from Johannesburg has now been bestowed upon the title of Mrs South Africa second princess.
Tshego Gaelae, 33, from Centurion in Pretoria was crowned Mrs South Africa 2024 during an event held at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park a week ago.
Gaelae is an admitted attorney working as group B-BBEE & labour relations manager.
She takes over from Palesa Matjekane, who was the title holder for the beauty pageant for married women in South Africa.
