rum.gold’s first show on South African tour sold out

The popularity of American R&B singer and songwriter rum.gold in South Africa cannot be disputed anymore. 

The singer’s “Extended Stay” tour has sold out its first show in less than three hours. On Monday he announced that he will be performing in an intimate live performance at the Marabi Club in Maboneng, Johannesburg, on December 2.

The Call It What You Want hitmaker took to social media last Thursday to announce his planned tour of Mzansi.


Rum.gold,  Delonte Drumgold in Washington, DC, said the official announcement of the other city on his his SA tour will be made soon.

“South Africa I see ya’ll, I hear ya’ll and I am finally coming to Johannesburg and maybe another city too. This is all because of the love (and bullying) you guys have shown me over the years, so I hope to see you all there,” rum.gold wrote. 

As a young child, he sang in the church and school choirs. In high school he started playing the trumpet and joined his school’s jazz band.

Inspired by his love for jazz music he moved to Boston in 2012 to attend Berklee College of Music. He then later graduated with a degree in music business management and marketing.

Encouraged by listeners’ responses, he continued writing music and switched to his current stage name. 

Album about black history

In 2023, he released his second full album, U Street Anthology, an album he says it is dedicated to his city of origin, Washington, DC. rum. gold adds the album highlights aspects of black history and stories that are central to the capital city of the US.


Earlier this year he was on the “U Street Anthology Tour” which he said he believes was life-changing.

“What a joy it has been seeing the faces of the people who have been supporting me and my sad songs for all this time. This tour has been an amazing learning experience, and I cannot wait to see more of you soon,” he wrote.
