Durban-based dancer Senzosenkosi Bhengu, popularly known as Verb, was crowned the South African Red Bull Dance Your Style National Champion.
Red Bull Dance Your Style is a dance battle where the emphasis is placed on bringing people together in the celebration of dance, music, and performance and on recreating the social party atmosphere that all the street dance styles are derived from.
The competition is a mixed, all-styles one-on-one battle, in which dancers from any street style discipline can enter.
After the much-anticipated national final dance battles among all the dancers from all different regions, Verb will be able to make his way through some of the world’s best dancers to claim this prestigious title.
Verb’s journey to this title has been inspiring as he has entered the competition five times and has since progressed to be one of the best Krumping dancers in South Africa.
After being added as a wild card, Verb was able to show off his skills at the national level, where he proved that there is no stopping him.
Verb expressed that winning in his hometown and being given a chance to go to the world final again was a surreal feeling.
“I want to grow from and hopefully win the world final. I’m looking forward to representing South Africa and seeing the other dancers from across the globe. My confidence has changed for the better and I’ll make it a point to bring it back home.”
In the unique event, the world’s best street dancers will come together to compete for the title of world champion, which will be taking place in Germany this year on November 4.
