I did not sleep around to win Song of the Year award – DJ Hlo

Popular DJ and 2021 Ukhozi FM Song of the Year winner Hlosiwe “DJ Hlo” Mthalane has finally spoken out about the cyberbullying she endured for winning the award.

She penned a public message explaining how cyberbullying negatively affected her and her family.

“I would like to thank Ukhozi FM for the top 10 songs that compete for the Song of the Year title. I received many local and international gigs because of the platform, but I would like people to know that the comments they make about me on social media, since my win, contain abuse. I am also human and all the hurt goes to my heart” the DJ wrote.

She further poured cold water over allegations that she “slept her way to the top”.

DJ Hlo said people believe that she won the award because she slept with the station’s presenters, which she disputed.

“I have never bribed anyone for my song Isibani to win Song of the Year award. If it was the truth, I would be in the top 10 this year.

“I worked hard for that win, not sleeping [around], because I was pushing my song through campaigns. I would like to thank my team that stood by me during the tough times that I had to face.

“Congratulations to all the artists that are [vying for] the Ukhozi FM Song of the Year top 10 this year, and I would like to urge all their fans to vote for them with clear hearts.”
