Pearl Mbewe, the estranged wife of veteran actor Sello Maake KaNcube, has partnered with Sylvester Mofokeng to try to tackle social issues in Braamfisherville, Soweto.
Mbewe, who is the founder of Wisdom Mobile Marketing Solutions, in partnership with Basadi ba Dinoko, a Braamfisherville-based non-profit company, is proud to announce the launch of the “I Was Born a Mother” project.
This innovative initiative aims to empower mothers and young women to become positive role models and influencers in their communities.
The “I Was Born a Mother” project is a response to the growing need for positive role models and influencers in communities.
Mbewe said the project seeks to provide a platform for mothers and young women to share their experiences, challenges, and successes and to support one another in their personal and professional journeys.
Giving back to the community
“I am thrilled to launch the ‘I Was Born a Mother’ project, which is a brainchild born out of my passion to give back to my community,” said Mbewe.
“As a native of Braamfisherville and a product of a previously disadvantaged background, I understand the challenges faced by mothers and young women in our communities.
“Through this project, we aim to empower and support them to become confident, self-assured, and positive influencers in their communities.”
The project’s objectives include empowering mothers and young women to become positive role models and influencers in their communities, promoting positive values, healthy relationships, and personal development, among mothers.
It will also provide a platform for mothers and young women to share their experiences, challenges, and successes, and to support one another in their personal and professional journeys.
“We are excited to partner with Basadi ba Dinoko and other organisations to make a positive impact in the lives of mothers and young women. We invite all stakeholders to join us in this journey to empower and uplift our communities.”
Empowering fathers
On the same day, they will also be launching a similar project called “I Was Born a Father”,
which aims to empower fathers and father figures to become positive role models and
influencers in their communities.
This project seeks to address the critical issue of fatherlessness and its impact on society by providing a platform for fathers and father figures to share their experiences, challenges, and successes.
“We believe that both mothers and fathers play a critical role in shaping the lives of their
children and communities.
“Through the ‘I Was Born a Mother’ and ‘I Was Born a Father’ projects, we aim to empower and support both mothers and fathers to become positive influencers in their communities.”
