Musician Lehlogonolo ‘Shebeshxt’ Chauke is expected to appear at the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s court today.
The month-long hitmaker is scheduled to appear in court for a case that was opened against him in 2022.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi, the singer is currently out on bail and will be in court for trial.
“The matter is set down for plea and trial on July 11, 2024, at Lebowakgomo Regional Court D,” Malabi-Dzhangi said.
Malabi-Dzhangi previously told Sunday World that a case was opened against Chauke after he allegedly stabbed a man in Lebowakgomo.
However, it is not clear if the musician will make it to court as he is recovering from a leg injury that he sustained when he was involved in an accident last month.
Last week, a family spokesperson and the musician’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, told Sunday World that the musician had been discharged from the hospital.
He said the star was recovering at home and was still in a fragile state.
“He is out of hospital. He was discharged yesterday. He is recovering at home and he is getting better,” Ramusi said.
At the time, he could not ascertain if the musician would be able to make a physical appearance in court.
Shebeshxt survived a fatal car accident in Limpopo two weeks ago, which claimed the life of his nine-year-old daughter.
Shebeshxt was travelling to his girlfriend’s home, where he was going to drop her and his daughter off, before making his way to an ANC Siyanqoba rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo when the musician’s car collided with a truck.
