Award-winning television host Katlego Maboe has yet again found himself in another squabble with his baby-mama.
The ex-lovers’ latest tussle centres around maintenance.
On Thursday, Katlego Maboe’s baby-mama told Sunday World that he has been delaying the school application process for their child.
She further alleged that the Deal or No Deal presenter demands that they take the child to an expensive school, a school she cannot afford, as she is expected to contribute half.
“I never shared my version of events and [I am] still not ready because I want him to work so he can help with our son, but he is not coming to the party,” she said.
“Katlego is refusing to sign application forms for our child, and chances of him [the child] not going to school next year are high.
“He is denying our child a right to education all to spite me.”
In a WhatsApp conversation that Sunday World has seen, Maboe tells the mother of the child that she needs to pay her 50% or the child will not attend school.
Maboe’s ex said she was elated when he was received well by the country and industry after he started getting gigs.
This because she thought Maboe would make their child’s life easy.
“I cannot afford the school he wants to take the child to. I feel like I am fighting a losing battle because I have been begging him for a year now,” she said.
“He is delaying this on purpose and spending loads of money on lawyers instead of playing his role as a father.
“I get sick to my stomach every day I see him on television lying about spending time with our child, because half the time he is not around.
“The nature of his job does not allow him, however, when he is around and wants to spend time with the child, I allow him.”
According to the baby-mama, Maboe told a maintenance court that his expenditure ranges between R130 000 and R150 000 a month.
“I have been called all sorts of names and at this point I do not care anymore. I care about my child’s future, like he cares about his reputation and career.
“All he does is post Bible verses on social media because he is pushing this saint narrative. He needs to start acting like a child of God that he claims he is.”
In 2022, Katlego Maboe returned to TV after he was suspended from S3’s Expresso Breakfast Show pending an investigation into allegations of gender-based violence in 2020.
Asked for comment, Maboe said he has a five-year-old child and his duty is to protect him.
“I do not know what is happening here, but with all due respect, my priority is my child,” said Maboe.
“I am doing everything in my power to protect him. I will not be engaging on this any further than this.”
