The number of COVID-19 deaths has spiked to 48, with Limpopo and the Eastern Cape recording their first deaths.
The Eastern Cape recorded four deaths while Limpopo reported one.
The health minister, Zweli Mkhize, also said the COVID-19 cases have increased from 2506 to 2605.
“It is with regret that we inform the public that the COVID-19 related deaths is (sic) now 48. We note that two provinces, Limpopo and the Eastern Cape, have also recorded their first deaths. We convey our condolences to the families,” said Mkhize.
As of Thursday evening, KwaZulu Natal had recorded 20 deaths, 13 in the Western Cape and six in Gauteng.
