Johannesburg – Sarafina’s original cast members Leleti Khumalo and Sindi Dlathu re-enacted the movie’s dance routine on the set of Imbewu: The Seed and The River.
The cast of The River 1 Magic took on the Sarafina challenge.
They were led by SAFTA award-winning actress Sindi Dlathu.
Dlathu said in an Instagram post, “45 years later and the struggle still continues for the youth today. Same song, different challenges. We were called to participate in the #sarafinachallenge and the @tshedzapictures family accepted. Love my team.

I saw some clips of Imbewu and The River cast paying homage to Sarafina. What struck me was; wow Sindi Dlathu and Leleti Khumalo are still killing it in tv…over 20 yrs later. Longevity huh?🙌🎆

Sindi Dlathu always been my favourite actress since she portrayed her character Thandaza from Muvhango. Hearing that she was an assistant choreographer for Sarafina well i'm astonished. pic.twitter.com/7WpgtyYMip
