Dj Mobi Dixon sought by police for ‘slapping’ guesthouse owner

Popular deejay and music producer Mobi Dixon is a wanted man after a case of assault was opened against him in Bloemfontein for allegedly assaulting a guesthouse owner.

Police in the Free State said a case of common assault was opened at the Parkweg Police Station in Bloemfontein by the Lemon and Lime guesthouse owner last month.

Police spokesperson Thabo Covane said: “According to the report, Miss ML Houghton was assaulted by a male person on Sunday 21 May 2023 at about 05:15 while at Lemon and Lime Guesthouse.”

On Friday, Covane told Sunday World that the case is still under investigation. He added that the police made contact with the muso, who told them he is currently out of the country and would hand himself over upon return.

“The DJ was said to be out of the country and will report at Parkweg Police Station [upon] his return,” Covane said.

It is understood that Mobi Dixon, who was performing in the province, had a fall-out with the guesthouse owner after she allegedly chased him out in the middle of the night because he had returned with guests.

A source close to the star said he returned to the guesthouse with a guest but was refused entry after making a booking because the guesthouse had a “no visitors” policy.

“The incident turned ugly to a point where this lady tried to push Mobi out of the guest house but slipped. She then went to open a case against him. [But] to his surprise, she claimed that he physically assaulted her,” the source alleged.

However, another source at the guest house alleged that the owner opened a case against the deejay because he slapped her across the face.

“She wanted them to leave and after a back-and-forth they got into an altercation, and he slapped her on the face and she fell,” the second source added.

When contacted for comment, the singer told Sunday World that he was in consultations with his legal representatives and the police will give his side of the story.
