The bitter-sweet moment has come for Idols SA fans to bid farewell to the music competition show.
The show made its debut in 2002 and will start airing its final season on Saturday, July 8. The show has also been moved from its normal Sunday slot to Saturday evenings on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) at 6pm and on Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163) at 7:30pm.
With two decades of introducing different voices to the world, launching of countless careers, changing of judges and big names attached to it, the final installment titled “iLast Number” has been described as the most sensational season.
According to a statement issued by Mnet on Tuesday, the show comes with plenty surprises.
“In an exciting twist, we are thrilled to announce that, for the first time in Idols SA history, the farewell season will also air on Mzansi Wethu, DStv channel 163. South Africans will witness the return of our expert judging panel Somizi Mhlongo, Thembi Seete, and JR Bogopa. Their savvy, passion, and vibrant personalities will once again light up your screens and set the stage ablaze.
“We invite you to join us in celebrating this landmark season, and the incredible talent that has graced the stage over the years, not forgetting those who are part of our final curtain call.”
“ProVerb, the host and co-producer of Idols SA, will guide Mzansi Magic and Mzansi Wethu viewers through this unforgettable season, ensuring every moment is filled with excitement, drama, and unforgettable performances.”
