The Joy became the first South African group to perform on American singer Jennifer Hudson’s talk show.
Formed around 2018, The Joy comprises five members from Hammarsdale on the outer west of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. The group staged the performance on Tuesday.
In August, The Joy travelled to the UK to perform at the Commonwealth Games and to record the group’s new album after releasing its debut EP in September 2021.
Hudson shared on social media how she loved hosting the South African group on her show and sharing a song with group members.
This is my Christmas gift, my favorite type of music. I love it. Wow, @thejoyofficialmusic, u bless us all with your gift,” wrote Hudson.
