Limpopo to dedicate weekend to ‘Idols’ winner Thapelo Molomo

The Limpopo department of sports, arts and culture will dedicate the entire weekend to Idols Season 18 winner, Thapelo Molomo, in an effort to welcome the star back home.

Molomo was announced winner of the music competition on November 13.

Molomo will be spoilt to a breakfast in Polokwane, sharing the table with Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha and his executives from across Limpopo districts.

He will then join the Mapungubwe Arts and Culture Carnival march, which will run from SABC Park through to Jack Botes Hall.

The fiesta will be led by the departmental MEC Nakedi Kekana, scheduled for Friday.

“We are so proud to welcome our son, our star in Limpopo; during the run-up campaign to his win. We knew in our hearts that we have a star here,” said Kekana.

Molomo will then be welcomed back at Mogalakwena Local Municipality where various activities are scheduled for Saturday. There will also be a “mini festival” at his home village of Diretsaneng Sunday.

Mayor, Ngoako Taueatsoala said this initiative was aimed at showing the youth from villages that it is always possible to reach your dreams, highlighting that backgrounds do not determine life’s destination.

“We are proud and excited for Thapelo’s win. This will serve as an encouragement to our children who are residing in rural villages that their success cannot be determined by the background they are coming from,” said Taueatsoala.
