Makoma Mohale to play lead role on ‘Queen Modjadji’

Scandal actress Makoma Mohale has bagged her first lead role as she will play Queen Modjadji in the eagerly awaited Queen Modjadji drama series premiering this July.

Mohale, who plays Tlhogi on e.tv’s Scandal, will take on the role of Maselekwani (Queen Modjadji), the young Queen-in-waiting who brings about a golden age of peace and prosperity to the land.

A graduate of the Performing Arts, Mohale’s first performances were theatre-based in plays such as Too Sweet Too Bad, Fright Alah and The Infidel. 

More cast members revealed  

Other cast members who have been revealed by the channel include Mudi Mudau, who will portray Khadikhulu, Maselekwani’s rakhadi (aunt) and head teacher and adviser.

Putla Setlapelo will play Ramulodi, the keeper of the secret and the king’s keeper. Putla has appeared on many M-Net productions such as The Wild and various other local productions.

Priscilla Raboroko will play Young Raisibe, who is the daughter of young Maselekwani’s minders. She is also Maselekwani’s childhood companion and trusted friend in the series.   

Aubrey Mmakola will portray Kgoshi Mampuru, who was the king of the neighbouring Bapedi Kingdom. Mmakola is an actor, dialogue coach and director who has made his mark on the acting scene.

Royal fortune teller in the mix

Moses Raseleke will play Mphabantshi, who is the royal healer, fortune teller and spiritual leader.

Former The Wife actor Sipho Ndlovu will play General Phaahla, who was the cunning general of the Bapedi Kingdom. Musician Candy TsaMaNdebele plays Muyahabo, one of Mambo Mugodo’s wives and stepmother to Maselekwani.  

More cast members are yet to be revealed closer to the premiere of the historical drama. It is set to air on Mzansi Magic.
