MMAs offer Mpumalanga chance to grow tourism sector

The tourism sector and economic development in Mpumalanga will benefit the most from the Metro FM Music Awards (MMA) which take place in Mbombela at the weekend.

South Africa’s biggest commercial radio station has partnered with the provincial government in Mpumalanga for this year’s edition of the awards.

Speaking to Sunday World this week, Metro FM business manager Kina Nhlengethwa said the much-anticipated event will promote Mpumalanga’s tourism and economic development.

“Both parties are working together to have measures in place to ensure travellers have a safe and fun time,” said Nhlengethwa.

“There is also an array of different types of accommodation for people to choose from in and around Mbombela.”

Nhlengethwa promised that the awards ceremony will be an event like no other.

The production is world-class and a fabulous line-up of hosts has been put together including Lerato Kganyago, Katlego Maboe, Somizi, Mpumi Mlambo, Sipho Mkhwanazi, and Zanele Potelwa.

“The MMAs are the biggest event through which the SABC Radio demonstrates and supports the development of musicians. This is also a great platform to encourage young and upcoming talent in the industry,” said Nhlengethwa.

“South Africa’s most talented artists will fill the ceremony with incredible live performances and entertainment. A-list celebrities, fashion and art will also be on display.”
