‘The Wife season three will break your hearts and heal them again’

The much-anticipated Showmax Original telenovela, The Wife season three, hits the screens on Thursday.

Inspired by Dudu Busani-Dube’s book series Hlomu: The Wife, Zandile: The Resolute, and Naledi: His Love, the final season centres around two star-crossed lovers – the Tswana doctor Naledi Montsho played by Gaisang Noge and Zulu taxi driver Qhawe Zulu played by Kwenzo Ngcobo.

Ngcobo is DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Favourite Rising Star winner.

New faces have also been introduced this season, including Mo Setumo, Sello Motloung, and Lungelo Mpangase, among others.

Wiseman Mncube, the SA Film and Television Awards winner, also makes an appearance as Mqhele, replacing Bongo Khoza who played Mqhele in seasons one and two.

Yolisa Phahle, CEO of Showmax and MultiChoice Connected Video, said season three picks up with the kidnapping of Naledi and the Zulu brothers’ crimes making front-page news.

“This season is going to be the most explosive yet. It is going to break your hearts and heal them again,” said Phahle.

“There’s more romance and more action, and we’re now celebrating Setswana, as well as Zulu culture. In Naledi’s family, the Zulu brothers may have finally met their match.”
