Health scare forces cancellation of Madonna’s tour

American singer and songwriter Madonna Louise Ciccone, popularly known as the Queen of Pop, has had to postpone her upcoming 84-date tour billed to take place in July.

The tour was scheduled to take place in Canada on July 15.

According to reports, Madonna was hospitalised and rushed to intensive care unit (ICU) after she became unresponsive. She was later diagnosed with a bacterial infection.


The 64-year-old’s manager, Guy Oseary, said Madonna got ill on Saturday and was rushed to the hospital where she was admitted to the ICU for a few days. 

“Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected. At this time, we will need to pause all commitments which include the tour,” he wrote.

Oseary added that more details would be shared with fans as soon as they become available, including the new start date for the tour and rescheduled shows.
