Celebville came out in style and in numbers to show off their stylish and not-so-stylish designer outfits at the Hollywood Durban July over the weekend.
It was quite evident that some drew inspiration from the vibrant coral reefs found in the wavy ocean and marine life. Celebrities wore designer dresses. While others looked like the dresses rebelled, refused to be worn, and instead wore the celebrity.
BET award-winning singer Makhadzi unfortunately was one of the many whose outfit was not so impressive. High fashion is known to be synonymous with the July event, which is known for attracting visitors worldwide.
It was the battle of who was able to ride the fashion waves and crash on the seashore. While others completely missed or ignored the theme of the day at the Greyville Racecourse in Durban.
Fashion ‘hits’ and ‘misses’
Makhadzi herself admitted that she was not happy about her outfit. But unfortunately she could not do anything about her dilemma and all she could do was laugh the entire day. There were fashion ‘hits’ and fashion ‘misses’. And hers was definitely a ‘miss’. It just missed the whole point of what fashion is.
“I am like I think I was supposed to pose like this and post, no one was gonna notice the curves. Because wow, these curves are not curvering. When I get to Johannesburg kenyaka o loma (I want to bite) designer,” wrote Makhadzi.
The Number 1 hitmaker said her brother DJ Zonzo tried to show her how to pose and he was sacred. He was scared to tell her that the dress was not doing what it is supposed to do with her curves.
“I would like to apologise to my designer for asking for a dress nga [at the] last minute. After winning BET I thought I will stay in America for a week. I had to change my mind because there is no pap [there] and I could not survive.”
