Police net Muvhango’s Nat for Schumachering

Muvhango actor Nathaniel “Nat” Ramabulana was arrested on Sunday for Schumachering on the N1 north highway in Joburg, Gauteng.

Ramabulana, who played Tendamudzimu “Tenda” Mudau in the multilingual soap opera, was caught by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department officers driving at a speed of 136km/h in an 80km/h zone.

He was arrested and charged with reckless and negligent driving.

According to a police officer, who did not want to be named because he is not allowed to speak to the media, the officers were conducting a speed operation between Allendale and Mushroom Road in Midrand when they spotted a grey BMW flying at high speed.

When they checked the speed of the vehicle using their camera, they saw that the
thespian was driving at an unlawful speed.

“The officers waved at him to pull over. When he did, they told him that he was driving at an illegal speed.

“They then told him to disembark his vehicle, and when he did, they walked with him to where the camera was hidden and showed him the speed at which he was driving,” said the cop

The officers then read him his rights and told him that he was under arrest.

“They took him to Midrand Police Station, where they charged him and threw him
into a police holding cell and detained him until the following day, Monday,” said the cop.

Spokesperson for South Gauteng NPA, Phindi Mjonondwane, confirmed that Ramabulana was arrested and taken to Midrand magistrate’s court on Monday.

However, she said, he was let scot-free as the matter was not placed on the roll.

Mjonondwane said Ramabulana, who also played Blessing in the SABC2 sitcom Askies, was let scot-free because the state’s chances of securing a conviction were as slim as the poverbial eye of a needle.

Ramabulana, who also played the role of Khumo Lebone in the M-Net soap opera The Wild, could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
