DJ and producer AirBurn Sounds, real name Thabo Mahundla, has released his single Jabula. He has kept a humble and modest career in the background producing hits for major acts like Master KG, Nomcebo Zikode, DJ Tira and Makhadzi.
His latest body of work, set to be released in 2024, features the likes of Cameroonia-US star, Akon. The song Jabula is an ode to all the three artists’ families who have patiently watched their rise and success.
“It’s also a tribute to those who have been working patiently and hard and really waiting for their breakthrough.
“It says those close to you, friends, family, and parents will rejoice to see your dedication pay off. It hasn’t been an easy journey for people. But it’s a motivation for them to carry on and never give up as they will reap the rewards,” AirBurn Sounds adds.
He has patiently hustled and worked his way up from the background.
“I have worked with many great names and it was just a matter of time that I shine. I believe that now is the time.”
His versatility has seen him work with artists from various genres including Gqom, Kwaito, Jazz, Maskandi, traditional Tsonga music, dance and hip-hop.
Limpopo-born star began early
Born in Limpopo, AirBurn Sounds started producing music at age 15 years and made a name for himself after winning the Red Squad DJ Competition in 2013. He produced songs that topped charts across radio stations.
He has travelled Europe and the African continent DJing and working as an sound engineer. His single Thando Uzongibulala featuring Makhadzi saw him make waves.
“I have been able to work with different artists because I am not limited to genre. I am an artist, a creative and genre is just a box,” he said.
