American businesswoman Tina Knowles-Lawson and her actor husband Richard Lawson are headed for a divorce after being married for eight years.
According to media reports Beyonce‘ and Solange’s mother, Tina, cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. This was quoted in her petition filed on Wednesday at the Los Angeles Superior Court.
The estranged couple tied the knot on April 12 2015 and Tina listed their date of separation as Tuesday.
69-year-old Tina filed for divorce under her legal name Celestine Lawson. She asked the court if she could use her previous surname, Knowles, which she inherited from her previous marriage.
She and Lawson, 76, do not have any children together and she has asked the court to terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support for both of them. The former love birds are said to be sorting out their property, including assets and debts.
Earlier this month it was reported that burglars stole a safe containing more than $1 million in cash and jewels from Tina’s Hollywood Hills home while she was out of town.
Investigators said they were examining security camera footage from the home and neighboring properties.
Tina and her previous husband divorced in 2011 after 31 years of marriage.
The couple had been friends for many years, each in their own marriages for the majority of their friendship. When the marriage came to an end, Tina was in a place where she didn’t know if she would find love again.
Tina expressed how Richard helped her to feel alive again.
Taking to social media on Thursday after a video of her and Richard resurfaced of their interview on Black Love, she posted a quote regarding their ongoing divorce.
“I believe any human being who thinks that they are perfect, or someone else could be perfect is delusional. I believe that only God is perfect,” she wrote.
