Media personality Nonkanyiso Conco’s upcoming podcast has left netizens wondering if she has anything else to offer besides being former president Jacob Zuma’s baby mama.
Conco is an award-winning TV presenter, SAFTA recipient, a producer and the founder of Conco Apparel as well as Conco Naturals. On Tuesday, 26 February, she announced her podcast. It is called Timelines with Conco and will premiere on Friday, 28 February.
In a preview clip, Conco, who is affectionately known as LaConco, speaks about her relationship with the 82-year-old leader of MK Party.
She’s not in love with him anymore
“The romantic spark of being in love with JZ died many years ago, I’m not in love with him,” said the 33-year-old.
“I respect him because at some point he showed me genuine love. I am making a means for the baby to spend time with him. I was still pregnant when he named him Sakhumuzi. The baby is probably [Zuma’s] number 30 or 40, so I asked him what he’s been doing for the past 20 years,” said Conco.
She then captioned the clip as follows: “I’ve always believed that speaking with a calm and peaceful mind is far better than venting in the heat of the moment.
“Catch the first episode this coming Friday, 28th February on YouTube.”
But some netizens were unimpressed
The announcement has been met with mixed feelings. Netizens responded saying they are tired of her story with Zuma.
Akhona Ntuli wrote: “LaConco is at it again, boring us with her sugar daddy stories. Every two weeks, Zuma this and that, yet she claims she doesn’t like being associated with this guy, borex!”
Siya Mshengu said: “At this point in time – we are tired, baby girl. Trust me, it’s not interesting anymore. I want this to be the last time us’fundekela.”
Malebu commented: “This is what happens when your relevance depends on someone else.”
But her industry colleagues rallied behind her. TV personality Milly Mashile said: “Can’t wait to watch, friend.”
While Thenjiwe, the comedian said: “Let’s go and subscribe.”
Conco’s love story with Zuma is well documented and it’s been repeated over and over again.
Sunday World approached her for comment but she failed to respond.
