The Supreme Court of Appeal’s (SCA) decision in the case involving former SABC boss-turned-politician Hlaudi Motsoeneng does not bother him.
Motsoeneng said this after voting in Thaba Bosiu village in Qwaqwa, Free State.
Speaking to Sunday World, he said he is not having sleepless nights over the R11.5-million that the court has ordered he pay back to the SABC.
“The issue of this judgment is not bothering me at all. This is a marathon, and the SCA didn’t deal with the merits but the technicalities,” said Motsoeneng.
“I am taking this matter to the Constitutional Court. This is a non-issue for me, and this judgment didn’t shift my focus on elections.
“I have a bigger issue to worry about right now, which is making sure that ACM [African Content Movement] emerges victorious nationally and in Free State.
“I am optimistic that my party will do well in these elections. Nothing can distract me, as I take life very simply.”
Grateful for the voter turnout
Motsoeneng said that he voted in Qwaqwa because he believed that he needed to cast his vote in his hometown.
“When I voted for this nonsensical ANC, I did cast my vote in Bloemfontein. However, after I started my own party, I chose to vote among the people who trusted me.
“I am a capable leader with a proven track record, and the testimony is there for everyone to see on how I changed things at the SABC,” he said.
He also stated that he was grateful for the voter turnout in Free State.
“I am optimistic that ACM will emerge victorious, as I see my party doing well in various voting stations I have been to.
“I feel great that people are voting for my party, and this is a great milestone.”
ACM will emerge victorious
Even though his party is not contesting in other provinces and regions, Motsoeneng has asked people across the country to vote for him.
He said: “Despite the fact that I didn’t have funds to go and campaign in other provinces, I am grateful that our people heeded my call to vote for ACM.
“It is not about how much money you have to get votes; it is about your vision and the message you give the voters to consider giving you a chance.
“I have shown my resilience and strength to many people by showing them that I have a better way of changing their lives, and I did that while I was at the SABC.
“Basically, I am confident that ACM will emerge victorious.”
