Booyse, 30, would like to see youth in his community of Victoria West, Northern Cape, take part in local projects, earning a decent living and living better lives. As a member and spokesperson of Ubuntu Youth Forum, he routinely approaches private and public institutions to source business, investment and job opportunities for local youth. The organisation, which was founded by Booyse and three other directors as a non-profit company in 2019, has 315 volunteer members comprising males and females aged between 16 and 34 years. Its membership is drawn from three Northern Cape towns of Victoria West, Loxton and Richmond. “I am passionate about youth development. I’d like to see youth explore opportunities and have an option of choosing to become employees or employers,” says Booyse. Booyse says the organisation also participates in many community outreach initiatives. Booyse is also the deputy chairperson of reference committee with the local extended Public Works Programme, known as the Community Works Programme, where he continues to influence the employment and empowerment of youth in local projects such as in the soon-to-be-built airport in Victoria West.
