THUSOYAONE Kenneth Dipone (27) from Kuruman in the Northern Cape is an active young man who has the best interest of youths at heart who runs the Seoding Youth Service Centre. He works at a youth centre where his responsibility is to assist the young with job applications, creating emails and also Sars e-filing registrations. It is because of his work that most youths in his area are computer literate and are able to communicate well. For his part, Dipone, who holds the Applied Principles of Mentoring and Coaching certificate, has himself been a volunteer since 2015. “I was inspired and motivated by a burning desire of transforming lives of young people in my community,”says Dipone. Some of the activities offered at the centre include leadership development, life and personal skills development as well as facilitating internships through different government departments and the private sector. Outside his daily work, Dipone and his team have also started a campaign called ‘Um Becoming A Lady’ where they occasionally distribute dignity packs (with toiletries) for both genders as well as sanitary towels for girls.
