Armed with a mission to end poverty by transforming young people's lives and society at large, Chief Given Bungeni of Bungeni Village started the Given Bungeni Foundation (GBF). The 35-year-old felt he had to do his bit to better the lives of his people. The GBF actively works to end poverty and launches programmes targeted at empowering young people and other vulnerable groups in the community. This is accomplished by giving unemployed youngsters the knowledge and skills they need to survive. The foundation also offers training programmes and public education-campaigns to increase people's knowledge of diseases such as tuberculosis, alcoholism, Covid-19, HIV/AIDS, cancer, other health-related topics and addictions such as alcoholism. The foundation also runs agricultural community-schemes geared towards creating employment opportunities for young people and other unemployed groups.
