Sometimes the best business idea comes from what frustrates you the most. That is how Fixxr, which Mawethu Soga co-runs, was born. Soga’s business partner encountered issues with locating a mechanic and immediately saw a business opportunity that resulted in Fixxr. Fixxr is an online platform to book services online and qualified mechanics will visit clients' homes or offices. It also gives them access to maintenance schedules, get transparent pricing, make payments, access service history, and receive maintenance reminders. Soga holds a BCom Honours in Business Management from Nelson Mandela University and is a former senior solution subject matter expert for Standard Bank. As the business’s head of growth and commercialisation, Soga is responsible for customer acquisition, engagement, and retention strategies, among others. Among its highlights, Fixxr expanded to two more provinces and introduced subscription plans. The company also clocked R15-million in investments over a five-year period. “Don’t be afraid to take risks.
