A dedicated individual who is making a significant contribution across various spheres, Emelda Khoza has received immense recognition for her work in driving change. Before being named a Sunday World Unsung Hero, Khoza was tasked with functions such as welcoming Slovenian politician, Tanja Fajon. She was also a delegate at the Pan African Parliament, representing the SADC region to engage on the nexus between democracy and development. Additionally, she was recognised at the  2nd International Youth Volunteer Conference in 2023 and was a panellist at the City of Johannesburg’s discussion on building township economies.  She has also submitted her contribution to the National Youth Machinery Meeting with the executive under the National Department of Women, Youth and People with Disabilities. Again, Khoza has participated in Brics’ inward-buying and investing mission and the Brics Youth Energy Summit.  “We have not yet experienced freedom in our country and there hasn’t been any development,” argues Khoza, citing the high rate of unemployment, loadshedding’s impact on small businesses, the rising cost of living and an education system, which he says doesn’t teach pupils to be independent.  Devoted to youth empowerment, Khoza hosts career exhibitions and assists young people with applying to institutions of higher learning as well as job vacancies.
