Project Name/Description:
Founder – Moringa Nutrika
With an MSc in Agriculture from the University of Limpopo and an unquenchable thirst for nutrition, Teboho Kwetempane started his Moringa farming business when his father was facing health challenges. His father asked him to conduct research on a tree called Moringa and make herbal medicine from it. Upon noticing much-needed improvements in his father’s health as a result of this nutritious medicinal plant, Kwetempane’s enterprise was born. In 2022, Kwetempane established Moringa Nutrika flavoured superfoods and Miracle Monate herbal spice seasonings and beverages, helping people affordably lead a healthy lifestyle, while building an empire. His company obtained the certificate for Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety and Hygiene from the South African Bureau of Standards, paving the way for highlights such as supplying LIMED Pharmacies and other retailers with his Moringa Nutrika. Kwetempane’s connection with the soil also saw him work as a plant production facilitator in Sekhukhune, Limpopo, playing his part in improving the farming conditions in the area. “Despite the challenges of lack of funding and insufficient infrastructure development, entrepreneurship is rapidly growing in South Africa. Youth development in entrepreneurship is needed for this country to improve the socio-economic status, particularly using sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing and technology more effectively,” he says.
