Tshepo Lerolle is a third-year bachelor of accounting science student at the University of Limpopo. In addition to his academic pursuits, Lerolle is the founder of Bidecal Electronics and Gadgets Cleaning Services, or BEGS (Pty) Ltd in short, as well as Bidecal Realty and Consulting. “Growing up, I believed I was going to be a doctor because of my care for others,” Lerolle shares. However, after not being accepted into medical school, he focused on gaining business skills before venturing into entrepreneurship. “I needed to empower myself with knowledge from an accounting science degree to make a broader impact.” BEGS (Pty) Ltd is expanding its market reach, now targeting both large and small companies. The business is also developing its own gadget-cleaning products and franchising opportunities for students at different institutions of higher learning. Recently shortlisted for the ABE Bailey Bursary Scholarship, Lerolle is set to visit the UK to learn about leadership and innovative systems. He also holds the title of peace and human rights officer in the University of Limpopo’s BRICS student chapter. During school holidays, Lerolle visits schools to mentor learners, especially matriculants, providing tutoring, career guidance and helping with applications. Lerolle is optimistic about the future, focusing on integrating his accounting knowledge with technological advancements to drive innovation. His involvement in various programmes by the Technology Innovation Agency and other innovation hubs highlights his commitment to leveraging technology for social good. “We need to stay updated with technology and AI to stay relevant,” he states.
