Boitumelo Molete is a passionate young climate activist who currently serves as a Social Development Policy Coordinator, Co-lead on Climate Change and Just Transition within the Congress of South African Trade Unions policy unit. Her influence extends to her roles at the National Economic Development and Labour Council (Nedlac) and within the Nedlac Development Chamber.

As a climate activist, Boitumelo has had the privilege of participating in various international conferences and seminars aimed at addressing the world’s most pressing environmental crises. She has represented organised labour at high-profile events such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Conference of the Parties (COP), where she has served as a technical and strategic delegate.

Boitumelo’s activism spans both climate and labour issues, with a particular focus on youth unemployment. She has brought these critical concerns to the global stage, serving as a member of the UNEP Green Jobs for Youth Pact Advisory Group and representing South Africa as a delegate at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum. Additionally, she has played a pivotal role on the South African Presidency’s Just Energy Transition Advisory Board, and she continues to actively engage in global youth, labour, and climate platforms.

Her impactful work has earned her a place in the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans list, recognising her as an influential climate activist. Boitumelo is currently pursuing her BA Honours degree in Sociology at the University of South Africa.
