Her story will be told for ages as it inspires the next generations of young women and men. Mtlokwa is a true reflection of what true determination is when one has set a goal.
She started as a receptionist – today she is regarded as one of the most accomplished women when it comes to safety in aviation.
Mtlokwa is also an award-winning drone pilot and is a familiar face at the SA Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA), where she continues to put in the hours, and ensure that her story is for the books.
Over two decades, Mtlokwa has held various key positions at SACAA, contributing significantly to enhancing aviation safety standards.
Her exceptional leadership and expertise have earned her a global reputation, culminating in her re-election as chairperson of the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s Safety Management Panel, a UN Agency whose priority is to improve the operational safety, security, efficiency and regularity of national and international civil aviation.
Mtlokwa says: “I am passionate about inspiring others. I am also a strong believer in the power of hard work and dedication.”
In the tenure of her career, Mtlokwa has mentored countless individuals, with the sole purpose of seeing them succeed in aviation and transportation. Recently, Mtlokwa was awarded by the International System Safety Society, recognised for her outstanding contributions to the field both locally and internationally.
Mtlokwa says: “I am a hard worker, motivator, mentor, collaborator, teacher, and leader. I believe that one doesn’t have to hold a “leadership position” to lead, inspire, encourage, motivate and make a change. My motto is “bloom where you are planted,” meaning give your best every time, regardless of your role.”
