Project Name/Description:
LearningTree Aftercare and Creche, Headmaster and Entrepreneur
Charlene Elliot, a 45-year-old dedicated teacher and successful shop owner from Paarl, Western Cape, is a woman of remarkable strength and compassion. Driven by her passion to make the world a better place, Elliot is on a mission to spread love within her community, aiming to uplift and transform the lives of those around her.
A versatile leader, Elliot has served as the headmaster of LearningTree Aftercare and Creche in Simondium for the past eight years. Under her leadership, the school has become a sanctuary for the children in the community, where she and her team focus on the holistic development of the students. Their efforts are centred on improving the children’s skills, building their self-confidence and enhancing their academic performance.
In addition to her work in education, Elliot founded a not-for-profit organisation called Life of Giving in 2022. This charity was established to support girls who are unable to afford attending school dances, matric farewells, or other significant events. Through Life of Giving, she provides everything from dresses and shoes to jewellery, hair styling and transportation, ensuring that these girls can participate in important milestones with confidence and joy.
Elliot’s tireless dedication to her community has not gone unnoticed. In 2023, she was honoured with several prestigious awards, including Women in Community, Women in Cape Town, and Cape Winelands Sports Community Builder of the Year for Wrestling.
