Nominee's Province:
Free State
Project Name/Description:
Founder and CEO, We Care Foundation
At just 33 years old, Dorcas Motseki has become a celebrated figure in and around Qwaqwa for her dedication to helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Recognising the struggles many children face due to poverty, she founded the We Care Foundation in 2019 to serve as a community-driven initiative aimed at alleviating poverty in the Qwaqwa area.
After completing her matric in 2018, Motseki furthered her education at Maluti TVET College and gained experience working as an administrator for several companies. The We Care Foundation was established to support vulnerable children, including orphans and those from child-headed families, by providing essential items such as food, school uniforms, and other necessities.
Motseki’s compassionate work has earned her organisation numerous accolades, including the Sunday Times Lockdown Hero award in 2019 and recognition in the SABC 2 Nelson Mandela Charity competition.
“Being nominated for this award means a great deal to me because the nomination itself is an achievement for both me and the entire organisation. It motivates us to continue assisting those in need, no matter the challenges we face. It also shows that our hard work is being acknowledged by the community,” said Motseki.
