Despite not securing a spot to study at university in 2016, Kathy Magagane, a determined young woman from the rural community of Ha-Nthabalala in Makhado, was not discouraged from becoming a successful entrepreneur. She went on to establish her own beauty and skincare company, KathyMLooks. Before venturing into this business, she was involved in children’s decor.
In 2020, the passionate Magagane founded KathyMLooks, showcasing her visionary leadership. The company quickly became a local leader in the skincare industry by focusing on quality and effectiveness. KathyMLooks was created to address a gap in the skincare and beauty market, offering a comprehensive range of products designed to help customers maintain healthy skin and feel beautiful.
“One of the challenges I faced was accessing funding to get my business off the ground because my goal was to create products that sell. I started saving money by selling fat cakes, eventually allowing me to launch my business,” Magagane explained.
In addition to her entrepreneurial endeavours, Magagane is also a published author. Her book, The Rise of a Woman, published in 2023, beautifully captures her experiences and highlights her unwavering spirit. This work is a testament to her dedication to empowering women and promoting personal growth.
