Rejoyce Kgabo Legodi, an alumna of the 2022 World Wildlife Fund South Africa Youth Climate Champions, leverages media to raise awareness about environmental issues across the country. She recently contributed to the production of a documentary titled Breathescapes, which explores the effects of mining on communities and the resulting respiratory illnesses. This documentary is set to be screened at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Driven by her passion for using media to promote climate literacy and sustainability, Legodi has made a significant impact on schools, organisations, educational foundations and environmental clubs throughout South Africa and the broader Global South.
She employs media to ignite challenging discussions and enhance understanding of climate literacy, environmental impact, and sustainability.
Legodi has represented South Africa alongside the University of Cape Town (UCT) at the GESDA Summit (Geneva Science Diplomacy Anticipator). A graduate of UCT in Film and Media Studies, she also holds an undergraduate degree in Biodiversity from the University of Limpopo.
She is deeply committed to using her media expertise and rural background to amplify the voices of those least likely to be heard in the global Just Transition debate amidst the climate crisis.
