Tintswalo Cassandra Makhubele has dedicated over 11 years of her life to combating poverty in South Africa as a farmer, cultivating a variety of seasonal vegetables while also generating job and business opportunities. She is deeply committed to the empowerment of rural women. In her role as a lecturer, she ensures that these women undergo a rigorous Agro-business skills program through the University of South Africa (Unisa).

Makhubele oversees a large-scale farming operation that supplies vegetables to major supermarkets such as Spar, Pick n Pay, Frontline Hyper, and Devland, as well as local entrepreneurs and households that prefer home deliveries. She has earned both local and international recognition, having participated in the Mexico OGP Summit 2015, the Women Advancement Forum in Dubai 2016, and the African Women’s Conference in The Gambia, with a focus on United Nations peace and security.

Her accolades include an international award for the Emancipation, Motivation and Empowerment of Women Worldwide, the Gauteng Women in Agribusiness and Development Award, and participation in the CSW62 2018 at the UN Headquarters in New York, focused on the Commission on the Status of Women. Makhubele has also forged meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders such as Productivity SA, Unisa, Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, various government departments, and business entities.
