Baloyi names his latest  range after his clan

Theo Baloyi’s brand new reveal of the 2023 new Bathu Khalanga sneaker range at the Four Seasons hotel in Johannesburg took place last Thursday.

Shwa is quite curious to know why so many people are opting for this cosy space situated up there on the hills.

Shwa expected to see celebrities in their numbers out there to support Baloyi, but it was only a handful. Shem. I’m sure if it was a Gucci event they would have flocked to the venue.

When Baloyi first introduced South Africans to Bathu, he said his aim was to build a sneaker brand that Africans could proudly affiliate with.

You might be wondering why this 2023 new collaboration is named Khalanga or even what it means? Baloyi shared that it is named after one of his clan names.

We’ve witnessed the evolving brand since the 2015 Mash edition, Sky and now one that focuses on identity.

Haters such as the biggest attention seeker, Nota Baloyi, who is busy coming after the guy for naming a sneaker after his clan name should take a back seat. Shwa wonders what you yourself have created or are doing to better yourself rather than crying over spilt milk?

The event was hosted by Minenhle Minnie Dlamini, who looked stunning. But Shwa felt you were overdressed. Dlamini’s presenting skills really reminded moi of the days when she used to do SABC 1’s Friday live music show Live Amp.

By the way, Thembisa Mdoda, that big hair you had, did you immediately come from the set of 1802 Love Defined? Has it become your everyday look?

Umlando hitmaker Toss entertained guests while they waited for the proceedings to finally begin.

Toss, my brother, I’m asking this for the second time now, is being topless the only thing that you have to offer because why the hell else, when it is  freezing, would you take off your shirt? Why are you exposing your ribs like that?

I guess those are the disadvantages of being a one-trick pony. Please find another strategy ASAP.

Khanyisa Jaceni really tried to save Toss during his performance by hyping him  because the crowd was just not having it. Not sure whether they were hungry or tired after a long day at work. After all, Toss’ target market is ama 2K and not the likes of Nicholas Nkuna, who seems to be gallivanting everywhere these days.

Songbird Ami Faku serenaded the guests with her soulful music, and to close off the night was Murdah Bongz.

Murdah, do you not find pleasure in just playing your set like any normal DJ would, rather than having to dance on table tops?

Shwa has witnessed this so many times and gossip girl is worried about you.

Also spotted at the event were some of Mzansi’s biggest entrepreneurs and artists such as Johanna Makgalemele, Thebe Ikalafeng, Alphi Mkhwanazi, Mandz Not Hot and members of the The Real Housewives of Joburg cast.
