This time the big fish in the murky pond of chauvinism is none other than actor, musician and comedian Jamie Foxx. The American celeb is well loved globally, including in South Africa, for his talents as an entertainer.
Earlier this year, he received an avalanche of good wishes when he battled health issues which led to his hospitalisation. On Thursday, we woke up to news that a woman has filed sexual assault and battery charges against Foxx at the New York State Supreme Court.
The alleged violation happened in a New York restaurant in 2015. Yes, eight years ago. The length of time to report an offence does not absolve the perpetrator. It also does not make the complainant an unfair person. The court papers indicate that Foxx was intoxicated when he groped the woman down to her privates. The matter is no longer private now, and the court must decide in order for justice to be served. Being tipsy is no licence to fondle women without their permission; only a moegoe does that.
