Who coined this trendy political buzz phrase?
“2024 is our 1994” has become the trendy buzz phrase among the young headed to the crucial national and provincial elections next year. The biggest proponents of this phrase are the EFF and Rise Mzansi, both of whom have it engrained in official party electioneering posters and banners, giving rise to questions on who is plagiarising between the two parties. Rise Mzansi leader Songezo Zibi suggest the Red Berets stole the terminology from them. Leave the plagiarism question mark aside, but what if indeed 2024 becomes 1994 of another festival of empty promises? Do politicians really think these things through?
