Singles flock in big numbers to match-making church in Philippi

Single hopefuls are still reeling from missing out on an opportunity to get picked by a suitor and get married at the Shekainah Healing Ministries Church at the weekend.

Once a year, Apostle Musawenkosi Joshua Mohlala’s church hosts over thousand singles at the annual Prophetic Door Service YamaDakhi where couples are matched.

At this church service, single male congregants line up opposite single females and one by one walk towards a suitable partner, take them by the hand, and choose them as wives.

After six months of church counselling, family introductions and lobola negotiations, the couples prepare for their wedding day and live happily ever after.

This past weekend, the 6 500-seater church in Philippi, Cape Town was filled to capacity with singles coming from other provinces to take part in the match-making church service.

The church service also attracted media personality and Mzansi Magic reality TV show star Vuyokazi “Vovo” Nguqu.

In statement released by the church, it explains that the services are open for everyone who wants to get married.

“Praying for marriages is an event dedicated to embracing and affirming the sacred institution of marriage. We recognize the importance of strong and healthy marriages in nurturing families and fostering thriving communities,” reads the statement.

“The event aims to unite couples, families, and individuals in a powerful time of prayer, seeking divine guidance, and spiritual blessings for their marriages.

“During this heartfelt gathering, participants will have the opportunity to engage in intimate prayer sessions, guided reflections, and uplifting worship.

“The event also feature inspiring testimonies from couples who have overcome challenges, strengthened their bonds, and experienced the transformative power of prayer in their marriages.”
