The political turbulence surrounding Deputy President Paul Mashatile has now spilled over to his allies in the ANC, as North West party boss Nono Maloyi recently got a criminal case against him dusted off on the back of pressure from local business forums.
On Friday, Maloyi, a well-known Mashatile backer in the ANC, obtained a court interdict stopping the National Prosecuting Authority from getting him arrested should he refuse to sign a summons initiating criminal proceedings against him. The matter relates to a 2018 culpable homicide charge when he was involved in a car crash that resulted in the death of a person.
